Few places on earth teem with as much life as Amazonas. Brazil’s largest state, Amazonas is home to both one of our world’s lungs (the planet’s largest forest) and Earth’s principal artery - the river Amazon itself, which accounts for a massive 20% of the fresh water entering our seas and oceans.
Visiting the Amazon is perhaps the most immediate way of encountering the awe-inspiring diversity and wonder of our natural world. Yet, coming here is also deeply sobering - the Amazon is the site of some of our greatest, permanent destruction of the life forces on which we all depend.
