I was blessed in finding an excellent Spanish school (thanks to the really excellent web-resource guatemala365 website.
My school was the Antiguena Spanish Academy (also known as the Instituto Antiguena De Espanol) at 1a Calle Poniente #10 Antigua, Guatemala, Centro America.
I this week finished the last of 8 weeks lessons and found the quality of the one on one instruction to be excellent. I paid 720Q (about 70 Euro) per week for three and a half hours intensive one on one tuition (8am-12pm with a half hour break) with a wonderful maestra de espanol caled Lorena.
There appears to be no difficulty to change teachers should students desire it (which, given Lorena's excellence, I did not). There is a pretty diverse range of students and the school provides a range of social activities each week to help students mix.
Apart from having social benefits, I have found that supporting students to mix has aided learning as impromptu homework clubs have emerged within groups of students once they have got to know each other (which helps provide added motivation to make good on promises to yourself to study). I also found the accommodation that the school facilitate access to (living with a local Guatemalan family) was of the highest quality.
Fort those coming to Antigua to learn Spanish, I am happy to recommend the school as a fun, professional, good value and high quality school.
